at St Mary’s

If you are thinking about getting married in the beautiful and ancient Parish Church of St Mary, we can’t wait to welcome you in.

Please note that you are entitled to be married here if one of you lives within the Church of England parish boundary for St Mary’s. You can find this out by visiting www.achurchnearyou.com and type in your postcode - the parish boundary will then be displayed and you can see at a glance whether your house is within it.
You are also entitled to be married in St Mary’s Church, irrespective of where you live, if you are on St Mary’s Electoral Roll. You are eligible to have your name entered on that roll after attending worship regularly at St Mary’s for a minimum of six months.
Regulations introduced in 2008 allow couples to be married here if they can demonstrate a connection to St Mary’s within these new rules. Please contact the vicar for more details.

Please find below all currently available dates, which are updated regularly. It is possible to have more than one wedding on a Saturday - if one has already been booked, please contact the vicar to see whether we can accommodate a further one.

What does it cost?

The cost for a wedding in any parish church in 2025 is £581.

This includes the cost of the ceremony, reading of the banns here and the marriage certificate.


We strongly advise that you have the verger present for your wedding. His role includes setting up the church for the wedding, placing the bollards outside the church gate early on so that there is space for the wedding cars, operating the sound system and tidying the church afterwards. He does all this for only £45!


Other optional costs include flowers in church, choir, organist, bells, service sheets etc.. Please ask the vicar when you book your wedding for more information and costs.
